I'd rather open carry than concealed. That way you're forced to show your hand before anything happens, and it makes the job of law enforcement that much easier. Anyone caught hiding a gun is wrong, and its very easy to ask anyone open carrying a weapon for their permit.

People aren't accustomed to it so it will cause a disturbance....uh oh, now guess what? Open carry would be legal but you have now become a public disturbance along with all the other things they can tag you for now.

I disagree. I see plain clothes people all the time with guns. I just assume they are police officers. For example, I see this in Luby's a lot. No one panics. I guess we all assume the same. I really think it could work.

Even if open carry became law, there would be stipulations to regulate and restrict when and where.

Jolley, being that we are pro gun "we" know the law and "we" assume that if one was to open carry at the present time that they are of the law.

Now turn the tables and lets go into downtown or some upscale area and see what others will think.

Now I agree with you cause I'm the same way. I have studied a bit of the law, carry concealed and now most of my rights so I "assume" like you that those that open carry now is amongst the badge. Now I know of some people that do not think the same and if it were made legal then any joe could be carrying open and who's to say then?

Not to mislead anyone but I'm all for anything the government is willing to give back to the people, just arguing the opposing side for good discussion.

I waited quite a long time for my renewal, new chl classes are backed up and my Form1 is taking forever long!

I vote yes. Texas is way behind in its gun laws, most states already have open carry.

i have zero education on the subject, but i have been considering getting a CHL and it would be nice just to have the gun out for everyone to see. In my mind, it would alert a potential threat and they might think again before they decided to mess with you. Although, I'm such a hot head, i probably dont need a gun.

I can carry my gun from here to Florida traveling through all states legally.

Interesting that Texas allows the northeasterners to carry here, but does not allow Texans with CHL's to carry in; you guessed it NY, NJ, Conn, Mass, etc.

Just received my free Springfield XD 40SW magazine pouch and 2 new free magazines. So that will give me a capacity of 9+9+12+12 = 42 + 1 in the chamber.

Twelve states including Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Utah, and Tennessee allow open carry of handguns with a license. In fact, Texas is one of only SIX states in the entire United States that completely bans open carry of handguns.

watch out for those high cap xd 40 mags i've got some and the last 2 rounds are super hard to load kind of a defeats the purpose b/c i dont even want to put them in its so hard. btw shouldn't it be 10+10+12+12?
