I believe the answer is rarely...they generally reproduce sexually or at least thats what i remember reading last. Usually a tear in the foot is an autokill for lta's under some rare conditions, they may be able to split and survive but it is rare. Having said all that, ive also read threads, even locally of ltas splitting...so basically what im saying is i dont know... Um.....yeah.
