    Re: Pleco wanted

Just Fish got some Leapord ones in a couple days ago, dunno how big they get, but I think (not 100% sure) that she has one or two golden ones available.

They also said they can order some in if you have a specific request.

The number is 281 324 2542, they open at noon.

They have some nice ones on aquabid, if you buy 6-8 of them.

anybody want to split some with me?

          i would only want two.

Their address is 11415 fm 1960 east
            huffman, tx 77336

They are actually scheduled to be open sundays from noon-5, however they were not there when I drove by today. I do know that their son (a jr in high school) had a bad accident at a football game very recently and he was scheduled to undergo surgery (something with the ligaments in his knee I believe) the only thing I can think of is something might have happened with that, and kept them from opening up.

They do not have anyone to help run the place so if they can't make it due to a family emergency they don't have any choice but to leave the shop closed.

Unfortunatly, they are scheduled to be closed on Mondays, I don't know if they will open up today to make up for yesterday or not, but they open at noon, and might be worth giving them a call to see. If not, Tuesday they will be there for sure.

Anyways good luck on the pleco hunting no matter what route you choose.

Royals and gold nuggets are bigger growing pleco, if you are not careful of what type of royal, they can get up to 1'6", some even almost 3'. If you want a royal - get a clown pleco - easy to come by and stay at max 5inches, but are slow growers (sometimes less an inch/year), and like all royals need driftwood to chew on.

Gold nuggets - get over a foot in length. If you are looking for something smaller and that attractive - A green or blue phantom (same family: baryancistrus) and stay about 6" .
                Plecos:
                L083 (Gibby)
                L104 (Clown)
                L147 (Peckoltia sp.)
                L155 (A. Hystrix)
                L310 (Red Fin Bruno)

                LDA76 (False Zebra)
                Rineloricaria parva (whiptail)

                    Re: Pleco wanted

Yeah they get right under 5", but they really are not good algae eaters. I have a peckolita plec, and it just eats more of the frozen blood worms and cory food than algae wafers.

Bristlenoses are the way to go if you want a good algae eater. and stay small 5"
same with rubberlips, but they prefer cooler water and a good current.

I dont know, those bristlenoses arent that pretty.

can you get colourful bristlenose plecos? or is albino the only other option?

How cool do the rubberlips prefer? my tanks are all currently staying between 76-78F.

                        Re: Pleco wanted

I agree, I don't like the way the bristlenoses look either!   To each his own though, and I hear from everyone that they are the best for algae.

I love my clown pleco. Have you looked into them? I think mine is the prettiest little pleco ever. They grown extremely slow and don't get very big.

Have you looked at planetcatfish.com ? If you know a name, you can get info and usually pictures of plecos and other catfish. Its a wonderful resource.

Thanks. that site is great for looking at the different breeds.
i looked at the albino bristlenose, that is such an ugly 'thing', i definately dont want one of them. no offense to anyone that loves that type.

                            Re: Pleco wanted

Bristlenose come in albino, black, starlight which is black with tiny specs of white and I think marbled red/brown and black but most of these I have only seen mailorder.

Check out planet catfish and look through their L-numbers to see what eats/prefers what.

I have a little peckoltia and maybe a clown/tiger pleco that I might be getting rid of here soon and both stay pretty small.
