How big is your pond? The cheapest place to get a decent-sized pond filter right now is probably Lowes and there's a good chance they're on sale this time of year. If your pond is getting direct sunlight, you probably need a UV sterilizer too, to kill all the free floating algae that's mucking things up. Cutting back on the feedings will help too... once a day should be plenty hopefully you let them fast during the past couple of cold days.

    Good luck!

A UV sterilizer is just a container, usually a cylinder, with a long ultra violet bulb that's plumbed between the pond and filter. As water passes through the sterilizer, the UV light kills the free-floating algae in the water which is what's making your water green and murky. You can grab them at most pet/fish retailers. Lowes has 'em too pretty cheap, but they're not the greatest quality.
