how do you tell if they are female? i have one that's a young adult....my male baloon green terror that the mean old bala beat to death was courting it....but i'm not sure if it's a female or not????

Hi Mike....good to see you again.....I too, have a green terror, but I am fairly sure mine is a male. I would love an excuse to drive out though and meet you sometime soon.

the females have more of a blue mask, whereas the males only have the scribbling on the face, also females have little or no marbling in the dorsal and anal fins, whereas males get this at a young age, also female get much less red or silver depending on species, on their tailfin, whereas males get alot. also female will have alot leass green iredescenc on their flanks. why 4-6 females, if u r lookin to breed tem, just add a single male and a single female, 95% of the time they will take to eachother, i have formed over 7 pair bonds this way, they are not very picky, like heros species or angels.

also fishrus had an awesome breeding pair of goldsaum gts, 1 of the best lookin pairs i have ever seen, for $125, if u r lookin to pair up these fish it is gunna have to be in seperate tanks, once a pair is formed the other males and female are goners. even in a 200g tank, males will kill eachother, no matter how many hiding places u give them, and a pair will kill any other gt in the tank.
