  • Looking for a Tank Stand

I recently purchased a 44 gal tank and need a stand but am having a hard time finding one in the Houston area or on the Internet.  The tank is 36" wide by 18" deep.

I've looked at sofa tables, but the ones I've seen don't seem to be strong enough to hold the weight.  Anyone have any leads for me?

    Thanks!

What color do you want? And how soon do you need it?

Re: Looking for a Tank Stand

Wish I were handy enough to make one myself... then I might get what I really want.  The tank is in my den, so something in a dark oak or black would work.  I really want something that will blend in with my furniture, not look like a pet store stand.  I found a really cool hand painted occasional table at Fingers that would work, I'm just afraid it wouldn't stand up to the weight.  Any one have any idea how many pounds a 44 gallon tank weighs?

Thanks again for any leads anyone has.

Water weighs 8 pounds a gallon so 44 x 8 = 352 pounds.  I think greg tsam and Phishphrek both make coustom tank stands you may want to get in touch with one of them.

              Sorry
My son now has a full time job so we no longer are available to make stands

but if you have a power screwdrive and a saw you can make this stand and put a skin on it to match your room

He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
