  • FS: 5.5 gallon setup - taking offers

I am selling this tank because I don't have the attention span for it - all of my fish tank time is being put into my 40 gallon.

    So...this setup is for sale:

    • 5.5 gallon tank from PetCo - no scratches, I'll clean the glass, back is painted black using Krylon Fusion spraypaint.
    • 27 Watt Home Depot lamp - this lamp is very popular in the planted nano community, will grow most plants, with CO2 needed where appropriate.
    • AquaClear 50 HOB filter - fits perfectly on the side of tank as seen in picture below. Makes a strong but not unusable current at lowest setting. You may want something smaller depending on what you plan to keep i.e. a Betta likes way less flow than this puts out.
    • 50w Heater - An inexpensive one from Wal-Mart
    • 20lbs of Eco-Complete - 2/3 used, 1/3 still in bag. Good dark substrate for plants.

This is a good small sized tank for planting, and is a lot cheaper than similar sized ADA tanks, but gives up in the aesthetics department compared to ADA.

As far as inhabitants go, please be advised that even though some popular fish are small, I would NOT recommend keeping Neon Tetras or similar. What I would advise are nano-tank compatible fish, such as micro-rasboras. If you have any questions about fish you could put in this tank, please either post in this thread or PM me, or go to Fish Gallery - they usually have a selection of fish that would be fine. I'm sure your favorite LFS would be able to acommodate you as well.

A colony of shrimp would, of course, do very well provided with plants

PRICE: Taking reasonable offers! No stand is included but it's light enough to set on most desks or end tables (what I'm using). 5.5 gallons of water is about 40-45 pounds, plus substrate/rocks/etc.
