  • African Scat (Scatophagus tetracanthus)

The African Scat is a beautiful Scatophagus, with a yellow base body color and 7 black vertical bars. It is rare to see this scat in the hobby, which I find confusing since it is also the only scat to thrive in freshwater as an adult.

  • Peacock Gudgeon, Peacock Goby, Eye-spot Sleeper

Small freshwater gudgeons from Papua New Guinea. They are an extremely colorful fish; light blue with red stripes, yellow fins and a distinctive black eye-spot near their tail. • Tiger Datnoid (Datnioides microlepis)

  • Dormitator maculatus (Sleeper Goby)

Jade Sleeper Gobies are tube-shaped fish, female with blue/gray coloration while the male has the same base coloration, but is more colorful having orange and green on his stomach and dorsal.

They do best in brackish waters, but hard freshwater or even full saltwater are options.

These fish are extremely personable. For the first couple of weeks, I never saw them as they were always hiding in the rocks. But now they swim right into my hand to retrieve whatever food I happen to be offering.
