You can buy feeders all day but It is also how fish get intestinal parasites. That's why fish keeper and breeders raise their own feeders. be it Guppies or even brine shrimp. They know it's safe for there fish.

Isn't there a concern about feeding such a high protein diet to the malawis on a regular basis because of bloat?

The Acei are herbivore, not sure about some of the others that you have except that they're ax murders.

Some times I will allow my malawis and mbuna to have some brine shrimp. I let the brichardi and guppies have blood worms now and then. I'm so paranoid of malawi bloat that my malawi and mbuna get spirulina as their main diet. I do give cichlid pellets but I make sure they eat the spirulina first and they get veggies on the weekend.

I use sinking and floating pellets too but I don't ever give feeder fish. I hate death and I worry bout bloat but that's just me. I know a lot of people feed live foods and it's true it's just nature. I eat meat but I couldn't kill it, I'm just too soft. LOL
