    Re: Compatibility Question

well....i can be around them...but i do hate the smell........but out in the open i can get in an area where it doesn't bother me as bad.....but like cichlidfan stated....i too am very grateful not to be smoking anymore.....my clothes smell like the fabric softener i spend so much money on these days.....i can taste things so much better......and my hair smells like the expensive shampoo that i use in it....so yes....by all means puff away my friends.....it's not hurting me at all anymore.....

            <------smoker
first step is admitting it right? lol.  The 7th will be absolutely fabulous... The conversation alone will be worth millions of memories.  Mike, see you soon... Ek recommended I get my water tested over there... but tonight I was just too exhausted.  My fish seem extremely happy, the two ten gallon tanks are perfectly clear (the 30 a little um...fuzzy...not cloudy, but not totally clear).  I have extremely agressive eaters.  The iceburg's are getting light blue eyebrows, the sunshine's have glorious fins, the itty bitty hybrid fries are the most aggressive of the feeders and my brichardi's (sp?) are almost doubled in size...with two glorious males dominating opposite ends of the tank.  My numbers on the tanks are high, but it's hard to believe the water is bad if they are so happy.  Anyway... I (the long winded one) am exhausted.  The two albino pleco's seem happy enough, although not too aggressive.  Should I put a weekend feeder in for the little fries?  Could the water be cloudy in the 30 because it has no algae eater yet?

              Re: Compatibility Question

Cloudy water could be a bacterial bloom.

please excuse my ignorance once again... what do I do to find out if it is bacteria... and how do I combat it?

                  Re: Compatibility Question

If it is a bacterial bloom, you dont want to combat it, you have to wait for it to clear itself.

                    Re: Compatibility Question

The water seemed clearer today than two days ago.  Even the students commented on that. But it is still not clear like the smaller tanks.  I do not have an algae eater in there... It was a tank that was taken down and put back up within a period of a few hours...with some of the original water and the original bateria, filter, sand, etc.  I guess I'll just wait and see  :?

Cut back on the feeding while this is happening.
