Pic of the algae. Sorry for the poor resolution. It's more of a brown color.

that is a small bush of dwarf hairgrass that I had an experiment on. It grow really slow in the tank due to insufficient amount of light and CO2. It's still their in my tank but I don't think it does as well as the java moss. Like I said Fissiden moss will be easier to handle.

The algae in the picture is brown algae, usually appear when your tank is new. It'll die off when your plant mass takes over.
I have the patience of a goldfish....

        Thanks for the info!

Did a water check today. Everything stayed the same but it looks like nitrite finally has changed colors. It's not exactly the 0ppm color and not exactly the 0.25ppm but I guess right in the middle. So I just considered it at 0.25ppm.

Absence of nitrate doesn't cause algae blooms. Just sayin. Algae is similar to a plant. They use nutrients like macros and micro ferts as well. My 5G red 0ppm nitrate for a long time and no algae. I'm starting to get algae now because I ripped out all the plants and the algae is taking advantage of not being choked out of nutrients. You can get by without using ferts or root tabs. I did for the few months before I recently changed it up. The plants won't look as nice, but it can definitely be done especially since you have ADA Amaonia (that substrate has a lot of nutrients for plants hence the reason for the ammonia spike). CO2 > Excel any day. CO2 will make the plants look more lively. Not only that, there are a lot of plants that are sensitive to Excel. Vals are one that are really finicky to Excel dosing.

Amanos won't be able to propagate, so they'll diminish quickly. Fissidens look amazing. Xmas moss too. Those are the top two mosses for me. The algae on the plants are indeed diatoms, brown. Like Kyan said, it'll go away when you increase your plant mass. Increasing plant mass will choke out the diatoms for nutrients. It seems the best way to get rid of any algae is increasing plant mass. Excel gets rid of some algae and CO2 does as well, but not like plants do.

Thanks for the info! I was planning on getting adult amano 1.5"+ hoping the discus won't bother them and hope they don't fit in there mouths. I've read a few others had success at keeping them together, so I figure I'll give it a shot as well.

Go for it. I find that even if the fish's mouth is too small top eat it, that doesn't stop them from just killing it.

Online. Lfs doesn't carry dry ferts. Green Leaf Aquariums is a good place to order. They sell in packages and in large quantities.

Yea, I checked most LFS, just thought maybe I missed a store. Green leaf was my first pick as well on ordering ferts.

Fetus? Hmmm..sorry bro, I'm not really into that kind of stuff.

But I'm probably going to place a small order tonight or tomorrow. Give me a text and let me know soon!

Sorry, I probably won't be able to do any group orders at this time. It's only $15 for a complete package of your macros and micros on green leaf aquairum site though.
