Grant it the store is clean and nice. But, don't insult my damn intelligent. Plus don't pull a price out your arse.

Well since you ask!

I went to the store today looking for dubs (yes, I have a problem). Anywho, get to the store they have 4 large dubs in the front. So I asked the owner or who ever the short guy was about the sex of the dubs. The owner said " they are all male because they have the blue face". I looked at thim and kindly explain that females have the same face. Then he said "they have egg spots" I kindly (with a little pissed off mixed in) that I need to catch them to vent each one. I asked him how much and he pause looked at me looked at the fish and said $45 each. I walked away!

I walked around looking at some more stuff and found some medium size one (in the losing spots / white band stage) So the short guy pass by again and I asked him about those. Why? I dont even know.... The short guy look at the tank and said $30 each..He stated they were from his personal colony and he sold about 30 to someone two days ago LIE LIE LIE...I learn how to tell when someone is lying to me. So I kept looking at them and he start talking about how rare they are in Houston and he the only store that can get them... So I walked.


I want to tell him so bad to go F%ck off...But I didn't feel like dunking him in one of his tanks.


Died fish in a tank is a serious no no to me

Pulling prices out of your arse is a big no no to me..... since I know where he getting most of his Tangs from!

So if anyone want to go by and tell him what I said please feel free to do so....

Yeah, that's unacceptable.  Seriously.

I've been in twice.  Both times to buy feeders.  The first time, I had to track someone down to get any help, THEN argue about whether they had feeders or not.  I had been standing by the feeder tank waiting for some help so I knew they had some.  After I found a guy to help, he told me they were out of feeders.  I told him they DID have some.  He said no.  I had to make him walk over to the feeder tank and point to show him they had them.  

The other time I went was uneventful.  I only buy feeders though since any other fish I like are over priced.

yeah i heard about that. seems someone didnt pay a bill and they wont have power till monday, sucks to lose all that fish stock. poor fishies. now i find that interesting about Extreme, now granted i havent been in almost a year, but i got great prices last time i was there, and just what i wanted. But a year is a long time for a store as we all know, so i guess i should stay clear. of course i dont NEED anything else right now. sorry you had a bad experience DE. my experience with ultimate fish (that cichlid specialty shop up northside) I went in and was amazed at the selection adn variety. but whoever was working decided i wasnt worth their time to help and didnt feel like answering any of my questions. also i dont like when tanks are not marked. because it allows for too much favoritism. we all know that at some places we get hookups cus a person likes us or knows we are gonna take better care of certain fish. but it helps to know where the helping starts or the ripoffs begin.

It's not all that bad at the old Fish Ranch.....Mike is back as owner there and whoever it was that took over in between seriously screwed up.....stopped by there myself today probably right before delock got there... lights out but both Mike and Nick were helpful following me around with the flashlight, I go there for the salty stuff and hardly ever walk into the freshwater side anymore though.

As for Extreme....the guy can pull a lotta BS out the wazoo but being of the same ethic background the BS gets flung both ways.

went to see charles' new store last weekend....was very very happy with his new set up....it's coming along nicely.....yeah it's a little bit of a drive for some of us....but it's very well worth it knowing that he cares about his fishies as much as we all do.....and wouldn't put it to you when you bend over admiring something you want from his stock...and his cichlid room is very sweetttttttttttttt......i will be going to see charles when i need or want new fishies.....his drygoods section will be getting bigger as he goes along.....but yeah charles' store is the best i've been to hands down.......
