That said, I've dosed Seachem Flourish (which has some copper in it) in my nano and my yellow shrimp do fine and continue to breed.
totally different form of copper I believe.

        • For the time being just stick to the Assassins being in the tank and hope they keep everything at bay.

Your tanks are far from stable so it would be best not to keep adding stuff to the tank if not needed.

True. I keep forgetting these aren't mature tanks.

But I'd also go ahead and get more than 1 assassin. And pick out those MTS tonight by hand as much as possible.

Put up a separate "wanted: assassins" post, Chris. People have tons of 'em. I have only like 6 of 'em (and only 2 adults) and they're barely controlling my MTS population in the nano, otherwise I'd give you some.

                  • Should have grabbed some more from Roy & Sasha! They have a infestation of Assassins.

                    • Would pulling out the substrate and changing it help?

                      • I have free RCS, use them as testers.

Trace copper only kills punk shrimps.
I ate my fish that died.

                            Sub? Meaning substrate?

                            • Yeah I was thinking of pulling the sand for a plant substrate anyway. Just wondering if that would help.

                              • just concentrate on getting the tank stabilized for now. We'll cross the MTS path when the time comes.

But if possible, then yes replacement of substrate helps but you would have to dip all equipment and anything from the old tank to rid yourself of the MTS and possible MTS eggs.
